Tusheti Airport

Conceptual Project of Tusheti Airport – Architecture as a Continuation of History Tusheti is one of Georgia’s most breathtaking and unique regions, where the distinctive landscape, traditional settlements, and ancient building techniques form a treasured part of the country’s national heritage. In such a sensitive and historically rich environment, the creation of any new infrastructure—especially one of strategic significance like an airport—requires the highest level of professional expertise and contextual sensitivity. ARCHIDEA’s vision strives for an organic integration of the project within the local environment. The airport is envisioned not only as a functional space that meets modern aviation standards but also as the first visual and emotional connection to Tusheti — a space that reflects the region’s identity through form, material, and symbolism. The architectural form of the building is inspired by the silhouette of traditional Tushetian towers. The chosen materials — stone and wood — are native to the region and reinforce authenticity and harmony with the surrounding landscape. The proportions and interpreted forms establish a dialogue between past and present. The project aims to create a functionally efficient, environmentally sustainable, and architecturally balanced infrastructure that enhances the region’s tourism potential while preserving its identity and cultural depth. Amidst Tusheti’s unforgettable landscape, a new architectural vision is born — an architecture that honors the past, responds to the present, and remains deeply rooted in the cultural narrative of the land. Architecture as a continuation of history.
